Llamas are native to the Andes Mountains in Peru and are believed to be related to Bactrian and Dromedary camels of Asia. Their thick coat protects them and local villagers from the harsh mountainous conditions.
Since these llamas are domesticated they require regular shearing, otherwise their coats may become too heavy and may lead to overheating. In other words, shearing is just like a haircut and is essential to the health of domesticated llamas! Wool is used for clothing and textiles, or in this case, llama dolls!
